About Russ

I’m a Washington, D.C.-based journalist who has written for publications across the spectrum.

I’ve worked in nearly every area of daily news, but my current specialties are writing about climate and energy issues, transportation and investigative reports. In 2009 I finished a one-year journalism fellowship at American University where I completed my master’s degree in print journalism and public policy at American, while working full-time at BNA as a staff-writer for the Daily Report for Executives.

I am currently working on a regular basis for the Investigative Reporting Workshop and have been a contributor at Nieman Watchdog and Grist.org.

I’m primarily a writer, but I have taken photos and video, and I’m familiar and comfortable with many Web tools. To learn more about my experience and skills, please visit my Experience page. To see my clips and past work, please visit my Work page.

I will be using this Web site to update information about my career, my recent work and my blog. Expect this space to change dramatically as I continue to develop the site – so check back for updates to the site and my latest news.
